Community Mentoring

We now offer Community Mentoring alongside our Schools Mentoring work.
We provide 1:1 mentoring for young people referred to us by professionals (normally social workers). Our mentors are highly trained to support young people facing challenges. Our Community Mentor meets with young people and explores their interest, using activities to build relationships that feel safe for the young person to open up. Activities are used to create safe spaces and to support young people identify and work towards goals they set or changes they want to make.

Schools Work

We  work in a number of secondary schools across BANES delivering 1:1 mentoring and small group work.
Pupils are referred to us by the school’s pastoral team for a wide range of reasons – anxiety and panic attacks, other mental health issues, family breakdown, bereavement, risky behaviours both in and out of school, struggling to cope with school. We link the referred pupil to a mentor who meets with them on a 1:1 basis every week for 10 weeks. Mentoring sessions are designed by the young person to meet their individual needs and for them to have someone to talk to about anything they like.
LUX Mentoring has been great to work with. The mentors are superb and the communication has always been excellent. From boosting their academic performance to enhancing their emotional resilience, the program has truly made a difference – School
Our small group work delivers enrichment courses for pupils referred by the school. We look at improving self-esteem and developing healthy friendships.
We measure impact based on resilience, self-esteem and positive relationships.
100% of mentees showed improvement in at least 1 area, 95% in 2 areas and 74% in all 3 areas.
