Community Mentor (Sessional Worker)

0 Hours Contract | Salary £27,434-£29,606 pro-rata + holiday allowance | 7% pension contribution
(15.85-17.11 per hour including holiday allowance)

We are looking to build a team of bank sessional staff for our community mentoring service. We are looking for experienced youth workers/mentors that can engage with young people who need mentoring support. This could be for short periods of time or could be for 4 hours a day with any individual. The post holder will be responsible for developing a positive relationship with the young person, their parent/carer and professionals around them. The mentoring could be for a range of reasons and the youth worker must be experienced and able to deal will challenging behaviour. The post holder will be responsible for planning the activity and for evaluating the session.

You will be supported with training, supervision and attending team meetings during times you are working with a young person.

The successful candidates will be skilled youth workers who are able to engage young people, demonstrate active listening, remain calm in challenging situations and believe in the young people you work with. You will take part in team meeting, which includes Christian reflection and you will be expected to pray for the work. Therefore there is an Occupational Requirement for you to be a Christian and be able to sign our Statement of faith.

The ability to work on your own and be a self starter is essential. You will have excellent relational, interpersonal and communication skills. You will have a relevant qualification and (OR lots of relevant) experience in working with young people. The post holder will be part of a creative and supportive team which believes that a difference can be made in the lives of young people in the local area.
